Welcome to Dobrzynski – The Pet Community where we share information about our beloved little furballs.
The benefits of having a pet…
Deciding to have a pet at home, whether bought or adopted (on another occasion we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of each of these two options…) must always be a mature decision taken with all the consequences.
At the same time, if several people live in the family in question, it must be as consensual as possible, since it can generate unnecessary tension when one of the members of the family does not love the pet….
Anyway, if the day we decide to open the door of our home, of our life, to that dog, cat, or other pet, we do it from the full conviction that it is what we want, we will be guaranteeing (to us, but also to our pet) the best years of our lives…
And I say the best years of our life with all the intentionality of the world… because adopting a dog may not make us win the lottery, or that we find the love of our life, or that we go to live in the house of our dreams… in reality, pets have another type of power, but without a doubt much more magical: that of bringing home the awareness that happiness is in small things…
The power to remind us that in order to be happy, to smile freely, to even cry with laughter, we don’t have to live something extraordinary… we just have to let ourselves be loved by our pet, that life that in four legs and a tail comes to offer us so much…
From the above, it is all very simple… because if pets become, by themselves, guarantors of happiness, they will be, at the same time, preventive of stress and tension. Studies show that the simple fact (and at the same time so beautiful…) of caressing our pet, reduce tension and heart rate, with the effect that this has directly on the well-being of our body.
Among many other benefits:
- They reduce the feeling of loneliness. Anyone who has lived with an animal at home knows what I’m talking about. They may not speak, or they may not follow our conversation… but one knows, with absolute certainty, that one is not alone at home… that something, or someone, keeps company.
- They maintain a good physical condition at the same time that they favor the social contact. We all know that we should walk our pet several times a day. But really… Who walks whom? After all, those walks at the end of a hard day’s work, that walk in which we “air out” our worries… that walk in which we know the owners of our dog’s “friends”… suits us as well as them…
- If there are children in the house, the dogs become excellent teachers, an inexhaustible source of stimuli that awaken the senses of the child, at the same time as they unwittingly educate the child in respect for animals, and by extension, other living beings…
- They make you laugh… and that is, in my opinion, the best preventive medicine in the world.
- They make us responsible for their care, and they teach us to set priorities.
Each of us will undoubtedly live these benefits in a different way, but full of gratitude.
Man, out of all possible animals, chose the dog as the main companion animal…. If that is maintained after so many thousands of years, it is, surely, because the dog shows more than sufficient capacities to occupy that place not only in our house, but also in our hearts.
Welcome then to the wonderful adventure of sharing our life with a dog… the best friend, the most faithful, and without a doubt, the most unconditional…let’s walk our pet several times a day. But in reality…
Who walks who? After all, those walks at the end of a hard day’s work, that walk in which we “air out” our worries… that walk in which we know the owners of our dog’s “friends”… suits us as well as them…

They make us responsible for their care, and they teach us to set priorities.
