Dobrzyński  family - history

Leszczyc he name WIERUSZEWSKI derives from the village Wieruszew near Goslawice in the Konin region. According to polish scholars, the bearers of Wieruszewski name have the Leszczyc Coat of Arms. The first written information about Wieruszewski can be found in Teki Dworzaczka when in 1499 Andrzej Wieruszewski, a burgrave of Kalisz, married Malgorzata Kozminska, the daughter of Bartlomiej from Iwanowice, the Poraj arms, castellan of Kalisz. More information is written about Kazimierz Wieruszewski. Kazimierz was born in 1681. From 1724 for 8 years he was a theologian of Teodor Potocki, a Polish Primate. In 1994 in Poland there were 740 bearers of the Wieruszewski name. The highest population being 144 lived in Kalisz region, followed by 121 Poznan region and 98 in Lodz region.
In the 15th century many nobles moved to Wholynia where they lived until the end of the 18th century. In Wholynia my branch of the Wieruszewski's worked as chamberlain for count Dzialynski's family. At the end of the 18th century, count Dzialynski came back to Kórnik in Great Poland and the Wieruszewski family followed.

Information about Wieruszewski family was researched and collected by my Uncle Grzegorz Wieruszewski from Gniezno who allowed me to publish it. I thank him very much.

n 1818 Jakub Wieruszewski came to Debnica, near Gniezno, and deeded a farm from count Dzialynski. Then the whole village came over to count Wollowicz as a dowry from the Dzialynski family. Jakub Wieruszewski bought the farm and became an owner. After Jakub died Jan became the only heir.
Two daughters of Jan Wieruszewski left Poland and immigrated to the USA. Wiktoria Wieruszewska-Kasprzak lived in New York where she owned a hotel and Katarzyna Wieruszewska-Nijakowska lived in Chicago. After Jan's death Józef Wieruszewski inherited the farm and began the Debnice's line of the Wieruszewski family. Franciszek began the Pobiedziska's line and Stanislaw began the Klecko's line of the Wieruszewski family.

I remember Wladyslawa very well as she was a frequent guest in our house.
ózef Wieruszewski left everything to his daughter Marianna Wieruszewska-Nitke. She sold it to the Chodynski family. The last man in this line was Walenty Wieruszewski who lived in Gniezno and none of his 8 children returned to Debnica. His son Walerian Wieruszewski, a teacher, died in the Oswiecim death camp in 1943. Kazimierz was a judge in the Supreme Court of Poland. His son Roman, whom I had the privilege of knowing, is a professor of international law. He represents Poland on a Human Right Committee to the United Nations
ranciszek Wieruszewski lived in Pobiedziska and worked in his locksmith business. During WWII his family lived in Central Poland. After WWII they came back and lived in his house. His son Ludwik, during WWII, was a soldier of the National Army and under the alias of Malinowski he escaped from the Gestapo and German police. The other son Józef, during WWII, was in death camp Dachau, where Nazis performed a medical study on him. Wlodzimierz was the only heir and continues the Pobiedziska line.
